The following examples show how to produce Harvard style references using biblatex.
See this post on TeX StackExchange for further discussion on the Harvard referencing style, and this post for more details on switching to biblatex if you're more familiar with e.g. natbib.
This thesis looks at motivational forces between work, development and responsibility. Especially the factors self-actualization and altruism. A narrative literature review is combined with a survey study to identify related findings and trends in literature and how these match the contemporary society and people's beliefs. It is found that the economic view of man as being uttermost selfish, is reflected in peoples' views of work-motivation, and even in people's view of 'the will to help'. However, this view of man cannot be motivated by recent psychological findings, and neither is it as visible when asking survey-participants more self-reflecting questions. The conclusion is that altruism is, for some reason, hidden away, but is an intrinsic part of human motivation. It is also hypothesized that a society which guarantees every citizen a basic salary, or other types of basic rights, with no counter performance required in return, can use higher motivational needs such as self-actualization and altruism to motivate a more prosocial and more creative work-force. \emph{keywords: altruism, motivation, volunteering, effectivity, responsibility}
This example shows how to create citations in footnotes using biblatex. Biblatex automatically formats references and citations, much like BibTeX, but biblatex is more robust and more powerful. You can (almost certainly) use your existing .bib databases with biblatex, it comes with a wide variety of styles built in, and it's much easier to write your own custom styles.
In this example, we use the verbose-ibid style to generate footnotes with automatic “ibid.” abbreviations. For a full list of styles, see the user guide in the biblatex manual.
A thesis template using the memoir class, which is mainly based on book class, but it's intended to look fancier and, above all, to get more control on environments as Figures, Tables, etc.. The template was designed to follow the University of Bristol thesis guidelines.
