Survey on Bi-LSTM CNNs CRF for Italian Sequence Labeling and Multi-Task Learning
Survey on Bi-LSTM CNNs CRF for Italian Sequence Labeling and Multi-Task Learning
In the last few years the resolution of NLP tasks with architectures composed of neural models has taken vogue. There are many advantages to using these approaches especially because there is no need to do features engineering. In this paper, we make a survey of a Deep Learning architecture that propose a resolutive approach to some classical tasks of the NLP. The Deep Learning architecture is based on a cutting-edge model that exploits both word-level and character-level representations through the combination of bidirectional LSTM, CNN and CRF. This architecture has provided cutting-edge performance in several sequential labeling activities for the English language. The architecture that will be treated uses the same approach for the Italian language. The same guideline is extended to perform a multi-task learning involving PoS labeling and sentiment analysis. The results show that the system performs well and achieves good results in all activities. In some cases it exceeds the best systems previously developed for Italian.

Techniques Of Electromagnetic Cloaking
Techniques Of Electromagnetic Cloaking
How to conceal objects from electromagnetic radiation has been a hot research topic. Radar is an object detection system that uses Radio waves to determine the range, angle, or velocity. A radar transmit radio waves or microwaves that reflect from any object in their path. A receive radar is typically the same system as transmit radar, receives and processes these reflected wave to determine properties of object. Different organizations are working onto hide object from the radar in outer space. Any confidential object can be taken through space without being detected by the enemies. This calls for necessity of devising new method to conceal an object electromagnetically.

Simultaneous Localization And Mapping (SLAM) using RTAB-Map
Simultaneous Localization And Mapping (SLAM) using RTAB-Map
This paper implements Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) technique to construct a map of a given environment. A Real Time Appearance Based Mapping (RTAB-Map) approach was taken for accomplishing this task. Initially, a 2d occupancy grid and 3d octomap was created from a provided simulated environment. Next, a personal simulated environment was created for mapping as well. In this appearance based method, a process called Loop Closure is used to determine whether a robot has seen a location before or not. In this paper, it is seen that RTAB-Map is optimized for large scale and long term SLAM by using multiple strategies to allow for loop closure to be done in real time and the results depict that it can be an excellent solution for SLAM to develop robots that can map an environment in both 2d and 3d.

An application of the Ncut algorithm, with an open-source implementation (in the R environment).
An application of the Ncut algorithm, with an open-source implementation (in the R environment).
Although the analysis of data is a task that has gained the interest of the statistical community in recent years and whose familiarity with the statistical computing environment, they encourage the current statistical community (to students and teachers of the area) to complete statistical analysis reproducible by means of the tool R. However for years there has been a gap between the calculation of matrices on a large scale and the term "big data", in this work the Normalized Cut algorithm for images is applied. Despite the expected, the R environment to do image analysis is poorly, in comparison with other computing platforms such as the Python language or with specialized software such as OpenCV. Being well known the absence of such function, in this work we share an implementation of the Normalized Cut algorithm in the R environment with extensions to programs and processes performed in C ++, to provide the user with a friendly interface in R to segment images. The article concludes by evaluating the current implementation and looking for ways to generalize the implementation for a large scale context and reuse the developed code. Key words: Normaliced Cut, image segmentation, Lanczos algorithm, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, graphs, similarity matrix, R (the statistical computing environment), open source, large scale and big data.

Measurement of the dynamic viscosity of Canola Oil using a ball drop
Measurement of the dynamic viscosity of Canola Oil using a ball drop
The viscosity of a particular fluid is an interesting parameter that plays an important role in fluid dynamics of that fluid. We chose the common household cooking item canola oil. Using a ball drop, we set out to measure viscosity at various temperatures and create a model for the viscosity of canola oil as a function of temperature, as well as an accurate measurement for viscosity at room temperature. It was found that the viscosity between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius can be approximated using an exponential function and that an estimation for viscosity at room temperature was not very difficult to obtain. The precision of this measurement was limited by uncertainty in lab equipment used to measure various quantities as well as the image analysis software we used and the limited frame-rate of our camera.
